Outline of responsibilities: The principal role of the Transport Manager/Planner is to organize the efficient use of the company vehicles for own fleet/equipment deliveries and external customer transport. The candidate will be responsible for compliance and legal requirements.
Organization and planning of all transport activity from the Rossendale depot via the hire desks and direct customer contact.
o Ensuring all internal hires are delivered within the agreed timeframe with the customer
o Ensuring all internal hires are collected within 72 hours of off-hire
o Ensuring on-time deliveries/collections of customers' transport requirements.
o Maintain profitability of all transport operations.
o Manage driver’s
o Timesheets (including checking start-finish times using tracking system)
o Working time directive
o Driver CPC
o Holidays and adequate cover
Process all delivery/collection notes for customers transport including invoicing through the insphire program and maintain daybook/diary for all work
Ensure that all service, inspection, and maintenance programs are adhered to for all HGV vehicles for each depot including
Service, inspection, and maintenance of vehicles and trailers
o Defects, reporting, and rectification
o Appearance and condition
Maintain HGV MOT register and issue reminders to vehicle drivers/depot managers.
Tachograph downloads for divers and vehicles.
Reporting directly to the Depot Manager, the Transport Manager/Planner should submit summarised reports along with supporting documentation on a weekly basis. All reports should be presented in line with weekly deadlines for conference calls and depot visits/meetings.
Applicants for the role must have:
o Be able to demonstrate proven transport planner/coordinator experience and understanding the full compliance with UK legal requirements.
o Proficient use of Microsoft products including
§ Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
o Excellent communication skills
o Presentation skills
o Knowledge of general plant hire
o Knowledge of specialist plant and equipment would be an advantage (utility industry)
o Transport Manager CPC qualification
o Understanding of Driver CPC
o Full UK driving license
